Explore our cutting-edge wildlife sound monitoring module. The listening unit’s main components are the frame, listening apparatus, Raspberry Pi, and the power supply. Our listening units detect wildlife sounds, which are fed into a machine learning program that identifies the animals in the audio clip.
Machine Learning
Our machine learning model is trained on audio files from animals in the Ace Basin National Wildlife Refuge and classifies animal noises with 95% accuracy.

About Orpheus Environmental
Orpheus Environmental arose from our genuine interest in Earth and climate science. As five Juniors at Hunter College High School, our compatibility allowed for an idea-making process that led us to the formation of Orpheus. Throughout every step, each member was indispensable in the creation of our project. This is one of the first times that software for identifying animals has been combined with hardware for listening to them. With a focus on sustainability and ethical practices, we strive to create a harmonious coexistence between technology and nature.
